Need to Know

The unglamorous but essential bits.

Home base is 1250 Whitetail Run, Cottonwood (Nate & Renee's home). North Rim night is at Marble Canyon Lodge — plan is to share rooms; let us know if you'd prefer your own.

We're renting a 12-passenger van to haul everyone around — Walt and Penny are driving. If you're flying into Phoenix, the Groome Shuttle is the best way to reach us; drop off at Camp Verde I-17 and we'll pick you up from there.

Final costs aren't locked yet, but plan for around $350 — covers the 1-night lodge stay (shared rooms), kayak rental, boat backhaul, van rental, gas, and food.

Strongly Suggested

Train For It

22 miles. And just to keep things interesting, the steepest climb of the entire hike is saved for the very end — right when your legs have filed for early retirement. Ryan used this exact training plan for this exact hike, so it's not theory, it's testimony. Six sessions a week, eight-ish weeks out.  Consider this a strong suggestion, in the same way that oxygen is a strong suggestion.
